The Plant Pot Mushroom with Gnome Accordion Player is an exceptional example of traditional Thuringian ceramic craftsmanship. The historic model was originally created by the renowned Hertwig company around 1910 and represents the artistic garden and decorative figures of that era.
The basis for this present-day version is a rare attic discovery: an original master mold that has survived for decades. At the Zwergstatt Gräfenroda, this historic mold was carefully restored and brought back into production using traditional manufacturing methods. Each piece is made from German clay, pressed into plaster molds, fully refined by hand, fired once, and then completely hand-painted.
The charming gnome sits beneath a mushroom while playing an accordion, creating a lively and detailed scene full of character. The mushroom functions as a plant pot, while the gnome gives the piece its distinctive expression. The planter is deliberately designed as a decorative cover pot, emphasizing its artistic and collectible nature.
Every piece is handmade and unique. Minor variations in shape, color, and painting are intentional and are a visible sign of authentic craftsmanship and historical production techniques. The Plant Pot Mushroom with Gnome Accordion Player is suitable as a decorative accent in the garden, on a terrace or balcony, or as a special collector’s item for lovers of traditional garden gnomes.
This model combines more than a century of design history with living craftsmanship and stands as a testament to the long tradition of ceramic figures from Gräfenroda.
