Adalbert the Swinger is a handcrafted garden gnome from the traditional gnome-making region of Gräfenroda, Germany. The historic model was designed around 1920 by Bernhard Strobel and belongs to the rare group of dynamic, movement-based garden gnomes.
The figure shows Adalbert seated on a swing, capturing a moment of playfulness and balance. This lively motif is unusual within classic garden gnome traditions and gives the figure a distinctive, almost narrative character.
Adalbert is made from German clay, traditionally formed in plaster molds, fired once, and then completely hand-painted. Each figure is handmade and unique. Minor variations in shape, expression, and color are intentional and a visible sign of authentic craftsmanship.
Garden Gnome Adalbert the Swinger is suitable as a decorative garden figure, for sheltered outdoor areas, or as a valuable collector’s piece of historic German garden gnome art.
