A cheerful companion that brings energy and fun to the garden! “Rudi the Snail Rider” is a special collector’s item with a fascinating history. Originally designed around 1910 by the Hertwig company, which was active from 1903 to 2001, the mold was preserved from destruction. Today, this unique figure is lovingly and carefully reissued by Zwergstatt Gräfenroda.
Zwergstatt Gräfenroda continues a long tradition that dates back to the founding of Philipp Griebel in 1874. Since 2021, the manufactory has carried its current name while preserving the art of traditional craftsmanship.
Craftsmanship & Quality
Each of our garden gnomes is made from regional raw materials and crafted with meticulous handwork. Every step, from casting the clay figures to the final painting, takes place in our German manufactory. The figures are fired at 1922°F (1050°C) and carefully hand-painted with multiple layers of color, giving them their unique character.
Uniqueness & Collector’s Value
Each figure is a distinctive one-of-a-kind piece and a sought-after collector’s item. Zwergstatt Gräfenroda is the world’s last traditional garden gnome manufactory, passionately preserving this cultural heritage.
Weatherproof but not frostproof
Our garden gnomes are weather-resistant but should be protected from prolonged moisture and frost to maintain their beauty over time.
