A messenger of love and a charming spring greeting! This special garden gnome, “Valentin the Rose Cavalier,” carries a long history. Originally a model by the Hertwig company, which was active from 1903 to 2001, the mold was saved from destruction. The design of this figure dates back to around 1910 – now it is being revived by Zwergstatt Gräfenroda.
The roots of Zwergstatt trace back to the founding of Philipp Griebel in 1874. Since 2021, the traditional manufactory has been known as Zwergstatt Gräfenroda and remains true to its artisanal craftsmanship.
Craftsmanship & Quality
Our garden gnomes are made exclusively from regional raw materials. Every step, from model production to the finished product, is carried out with loving craftsmanship in our manufactory. The figures are fired at 1050°C and carefully hand-painted with multiple layers of color. This process ensures brilliant coloring and the high quality of each individual figure.

Each garden gnome is a unique piece and a true collector’s item. Zwergstatt Gräfenroda is the last traditional garden gnome manufactory in the world, passionately continuing this heritage.
Weatherproof but not frostproof
Our gnomes are weatherproof but should be protected from prolonged moisture and frost to preserve their beauty in the long run.

We are the only Thuringian company whose products will be permanently available in the on-site shop throughout EXPO 2025 in Osaka. A selection of our range has been specially crafted for this international event, representing our traditional craftsmanship.
